The interaction with the area outside of Design City Kolding makes the new neighbourhood particularly attractive.

The University of Southern Denmark, Kolding School of Design and International Business College are all attractive neighbours for Design City Kolding. That also goes for the town, the river, the fjord and the natural areas just east of Design City Kolding.

”Design City Kolding’s location creates some particularly good opportunities to nurture development and business and to create a vibrant and modern neighbourhood,” says architect Dan Stubbergaard of COBE Architects, who have designed Design City Kolding’s building plan.

“Businesses in Design City Kolding will be able to enjoy a productive relationship with the educational institutions which lie just across the road, and they could naturally recruit employees from there. At the same time, it is obvious for teachers and students to use Design City Kolding as a place to meet. Either academically or socially,” judges Dan Stubbergaard.

”The new neighbourhood will connect Kolding’s existing town centre with the fjord and the landscape and Design City Kolding will become a natural supplement to a trip to the middle of Kolding. For example, one could take a trip along the river to the marina and through Design City Kolding on the way back, even stopping for a cup of coffee in Design Square. There will be a wealth of possibilities to vary the trip through Design City Kolding and the nature down towards the fjord,” says Dan Stubbergaard. 

Easy to get to and from
Dan Stubbergaard also believes that the short distance to Kolding Station and the easy access to the E45 and E20 motorways make the location even more attractive for businesses and educational institutions, as well as for residents. This easy access means that it is quick and easy to get to and from Design City Kolding.
